Captain John Gordon is a USCG licensed and insured professional fishing guide.  Born and raised in Tampa Florida, Captain John is a true Tampa Bay native who has been fishing the waters he calls home for over 30 years. From early childhood, fishing was not only passion, but a way of life for John. Captain John's ancestors moved to Tampa in the 1800s from Spain and Cuba, where they started a cigar business. Fishing was the main source of food for the family and being a skilled fisherman was crucial. Learning the waters, and how to catch the many species that inhabit them was learned out of necessity, and over 100 years of Tampa Bay fishing pedigree is in Capt. John's blood. 

 
By 16 years old, John had enough money saved from mowing lawns and working at a local carwash to restore an old boat. Captain John spent all of his free time studying, honing in on the patterns of the many species that are home in Tampa Bay. At 18 years old John began fishing in local tournaments and making friends with local fishing guides, it didnt take long for people to see his passion for the sport and the industry, and for John to realize fishing was the perfect career path.

At 20 years old John knew that being a fishing guide was exactly what he wanted to do and got his USCG Captains License, making him the youngest self employed fishing guide in the region. Through the years, Captain John has been devoted to continuing his development of skills and knowledge of mastering all of the popular sport fish that you can find in the Tampa Bay area. Captain John has proven his skill set time and time again finishing at the top of the pack among the best guides on Florida's west coast in some of the most prestigious fishing tournaments around.

Today, the real excitement and thrill for Captain John Gordon doesn’t come from catching a trophy fish himself, John would much rather guide somebody else to the fish of their dreams. Taking kids fishing is also very important to Captain John Gordon because he believes it is essential to teach children the proper conservation and angling techniques, the way he was taught.
